Jason Birdwell is musician, worship leader, music teacher, and independent producer, in Austin, TX. He received his Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Texas in Austin and specializes in equipping youth to express themselves through music and media, especially in the areas of faith, family and activism. He currently is the contemporary worship leader and director of family ministries at First United Methodist Church of Burnet, TX, as well as the frontman for The Band in Black (www.thebandinblack.com), a Johnny Cash-style band with "Texas attitude".
Jason is also a staff member of Austin-based music school, N2Worship, and the music teacher for Odyssey School in Ausin (see "Affiliations" below for more information). Jason has performed live music in original projects such as: Atomic Alive, The Lindsay Wells Band, The Charla Corn Band, Three Year Charm and more. He has also performed in cover projects such as The Band in Black and Acoustic Avenue and has played with Del Castillo, Bob Schneider, Earle Pool Ball, The Derailers, Carolyn Wonderland, The Apologetix, Sounds Under Radio, Buzz Cason, Ember, and more.

•Pioneered a weekly workshop teachings children ages 12+ guitar, bass guitar, trapset drumming, piano and vocal harmony techniques to be used in a live band setting at Red River Church.
•Since 2005, formal/informal counseling with students of all ages (5-17, as well as college students) at Red River Church, Burnet Middle School, foster children with The Bair Foundation, and college ministry Hope Student Life.
